AC & Air Handling Unit Filter Replacement
Scheduled filter changes for air conditioning units and air handling units โ protecting airflow, energy efficiency and indoor air quality across your building.
AC & AHU filter replacement is one of the simplest, most cost-effective maintenance tasks in any commercial building โ and one of the most commonly neglected. The filters in your air conditioning and air handling units are the first line of defence for air quality and the plant that supplies it. Once they clog, they choke airflow, drive up energy consumption and let contamination through to coils, ductwork and the air your occupants breathe. A planned filter-change programme keeps everything running clean and efficient.
Which filters do you replace?
We supply and fit the full range of filters used in commercial air conditioning and ventilation plant, matched to your units and the performance class they were designed for (rated to ISO 16890 / ePM grades):
- Panel (pre) filters โ the coarse first stage that catches larger particles and protects finer filters downstream.
- Bag filters โ higher-capacity fine filtration in AHUs, common in offices and public buildings.
- HEPA filters โ high-efficiency filtration for healthcare, laboratories and clean environments.
- Grease filters โ baffle and mesh filters in kitchen and extract applications.
We remove and dispose of the spent filters responsibly and fit correctly sized, correctly graded replacements โ under-spec filters restrict airflow and over-spec filters can starve the system, so getting the specification right matters.
Why do filter changes matter?
A blocked filter forces fans to work harder to move the same volume of air. That extra resistance increases energy use and running costs, shortens the life of motors and belts, and reduces the amount of fresh, conditioned air actually reaching the space. Dirty filters also become a reservoir for dust and microbial growth, undermining indoor air quality. Changing filters on a sensible schedule protects airflow, energy efficiency and air quality all at once, and it keeps warranties and service agreements valid.
How does filter supply and scheduling work?
We handle the whole cycle so your facilities team doesn't have to. After a survey we log every unit, its filter type and size, and set a change frequency based on how the building is used and how quickly the filters load. We hold the correct filters, attend on schedule, swap them out and record the work โ including a dated log of what was changed and when. Frequency is driven by environment: a busy kitchen or dusty industrial site needs changes far more often than a low-occupancy office.
Can you combine filter changes with other maintenance?
Yes โ and it usually makes sense to. Filter replacement fits naturally into a wider planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contract. We commonly deliver it alongside air duct cleaning, so the ductwork downstream of the filters is kept clean too, and alongside volume control damper inspection so airflow stays correctly balanced across the system. Bundling these visits reduces disruption, cuts down on repeat access to plant rooms and gives you a single, coherent maintenance record.
